Lupus and Autoimmune Conditions

Helping you stay healthy

Connective tissue diseases are described as ‘autoimmune’ disorders, where the immune system turns against the body and can affect one or more organs. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or simply ‘lupus’) is one such connective tissue disease, commonly affecting the skin (causing rash) and joints (causing joint pain), but may also affect other organs including the kidneys and central nervous system. Effective medication dampens down the autoimmune response, allowing affected organs to recover and helping people to get back their quality of life.
